It sits on the edge of the bank of the Ganges near Janki Jhula, suspension bridge, inside the Rajaji Tiger Reserve on the eastern bank of the Ganga.

The First Step: Crossing the Ganga on foot

The Beatles Ashram Rishikesh is on the Swarg Ashram side ( area ) of the Ganges river. If you are staying on the Tapovan/Laxman Jhula side, your visit begins with crossing one of the these suspension bridges:

  1. Ram Jhula: This is the most easy and famous bridge to cross to begin your sightseeing to the ashram.
  2. Janki Setu: This is newer, wider bridge, you can cross on foot and on two-wheelers too, so easy in shot time you can visit.
  3. Laxman Jhula:  This walking route is longer but more scenic and meaningful, passing  Swarg Ashram area along the left bank of the Ganges.

Option 1: The Scenic Walk (Recommended)

Rishikesh to Beatles Ashram , if you cross the river through the Ram Jhula suspension bridge,  is insightful , makes your walk prefect and allow to see the heart of Rishikesh.

  • Distance: approximately 1.5 km  km from Ram Jhula hanging bridge.
  • Time: 20 – 30 minutes walking time.
  • The Route details: Once you cross Ram Jhula and you reach on the Swarg Ashram side, follow the main foot path that runs along the down stream river.
  • You will pass first  like Gita Bhavan Ashram , Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Vanaprastha Ashram, Janki Jhula suspension bridge entrance point and keep following the path way straight on the left, there is Ved Niketan Ashram, continue walking and at the end of path way, take left turn on off road and in a minute appears the Ashram.
  • This walking route is level-out,  pedestrian-friendly pathway, and offers you so many attractions along with  stunning views of the Ganga.

Option 2: Auto-Rickshaw or Tuk-Tuk (The Quick Ride)

This is route is for those  have very tight schedule, and wishing to visit the Beatles Ashram , coming from hotels or yoga center,  an auto-rickshaw (or ‘tuk-tuk’) is the fastest options.

  • From Tapovan / Triveni Ghat : Expect a 15  to 20-minutes ride, a distance of roughly 3-4 km. ,
  • You have to  first reach Janki Jhula suspension Bridge and from bridge you have to walk for 1 km.
  • From Ram Jhula/Swarg Ashram Taxi Stand: A quick 5-10 minute Jeep ride or private car ride.
  • On the left bank of the Ganges ( Swarg  ashram side ) ,  auto-rickshaw or ‘tuk-tuk’ are not available.
  • Travel Tip: Always checks the fare with the drivers before boarding on auto or tuk tuk  to avoid surprises. Specify the destination Janki Jhula bridge to go Beatles Ashram” or “Chaurasi Kutia.

The Beatles ashram is parched on edge of the left bank of the Ganges near Janki Jhula suspension bridge at distance of  approx. 1 km,  inside the Rajaji Tiger reserve , now run by the Forest Department of Rajaji National Park.  The full address is: Swarg Ashram, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Just remember to reach to the eastern bank of the Ganga first near Janki Jhula suspension bridge!

If I have to visit Beatles Ashram and it is  my  first time in Rishikesh , So, I choose the Janki Jhula suspension bridge because, once you cross this bridge by foot and take right turn immediate from the end of the bridge keep walking for 500 mtr there is Beatles ashram  (Chaurasi Kutiya )
