Rishikesh to Neelkanth distance by the trek is not too far, just 12 km uphill through National Park. Neelkanth temple in Rishikesh is very famous in the Himalayas of Uttarakhand, known for old history and long story, there are plenty of guesthouses and Dharamshala to stay nearby Neelkanth Temple Rishikesh.
The temple trek starts in the morning, after breakfast, you will be picked up from your location at the scheduled time by private transport along with an expert english-speaking trekking guide. You drive from Rishikesh to Neelkanth Temple that requires at least an hour zig-zag road journey along the bank of the Ganges up to 5 km and then along the Helen river up to the Shiva temple. En-route you visit the famous Patna waterfalls.
The driver drops you nearby the temple and the accompanying guide will take you to make a visit to Neelkanth Temple ( normally crowded ). After the temple visit, you start trekking for 3 km uphill then all the way back to Rishikesh, there is only downhill through Rajaji National Park. En route, you have a break, where you can spend some time on your own at Mauni Baba Gufa & Ashram.
Later, in the late afternoon, you will be back to your hotel, Ashram or guesthouse by a walk with your guide.
