  • The journey to the cave and back , from Ranikhet takes about six to eight hours, The distance between Ranikhet and Mahavatar Babaji’s cave is around 55 km by road.

  • The trekking path to the cave has been renovated. The climb to the cave takes about one hour for an average person. During the rains, there are a few streams along the way which feed the Gogash River mentioned in Autobiography of a Yogi.

Physical Fitness

Visiting Babaji Cave Ranikhet, Dwarahat Range Uttarakhand, located at about 2000 meters elevation, requires a 45-60 minute walk each way for a healthy person. A Jeep can cover the first part, but the last 45-minute uphill climb must be done on foot. The path is paved and well maintained , and steep sections up to 40 degrees.

Some steps are uneven and up to a foot high. This is a not  challenging hike, not a casual stroll. It is suitable for those who can handle uneven ground and stairs, and it can be done slowly for those who need it.
