How To reach the Mahavatar Babaji Cave in Kukuchina village, Uttarakhand?  There are 3 possible ways from Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji Cave. Here are the options for travelling  from Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji Cave;

  • By road:  Delhi to Mahavatar Baaji cave – Mahavatar Babaji Cave to Delhi
  • By Train: Delhi to Kathgodam and then by road to Mahavatar Babaji Cave
  • By Air: Delhi to Pantnagar Airport and then by Road to Mahavatar Babaji Cave.  

By Road – 2 Nights 3 Days

Drive from Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji Cave with a meticulously planned itinerary spanning 2 Nights and 3 Days.

Day 1: Delhi to Ranikhet (400 km, 10-12 hrs)

Your journey commences with a morning pickup from New Delhi Airport or your hotel. Embark on a scenic drive lasting approximately 10-11 hours, passing through Haldwani, Bhimtal, and Nainital. . Upon arrival in Ranikhet, Uttarakhand, settle in for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Ranikhet to Babaji Cave (62 km / 2 hrs)

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a drive towards the Mahavatar Babaji Cave via Dwarahat and Kukuchina village. Following a scenic 2-hour drive, arrive at the tail end of the road and begin a 3 km moderate trail to reach Babaji Cave. Meditate in the cave and visit the YSS Hut nearby.

Later, trek back down to Kukuchina village for lunch and then return to Ranikhet. If time permitting, visit Dunagiri Temple and the Dwarahat group of temples. Return to Ranikhet in the later afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Ranikhet to Delhi (400 km, 10-12 hrs)

Enjoy an early morning breakfast, check out from the hotel, and commence your journey back to Delhi. En route, visit Neem Karoli Baba Ashram and, if time allows, make a quick stop at Bhimtal. Later, continue the drive back to Delhi, where your tour concludes.

By Train 

Here’s the route map for traveling from New Delhi to the Mahavatar Babaji Cave:

Day 01: New Delhi to Kathgodam by Train, then Surface Journey

  • Check into your hotel in Dwarahat by 05:00 PM for a delightful stay.
Day 2: Discover Kukuchina and Babaji Cave
  • Start your day with meditation at the Dwarahat Hotel, followed by breakfast at 08:00 AM.
  • At 09:20 AM, depart for Kukuchina village in private transport to begin your trek.

Day 3: Return Journey to Kathgodam

  • Arrive at Kathgodam Railway Station by 03:35 PM to board the KGM-NDLS Shatabdi Train (No.12039) to New Delhi.

There are limited accommodation options to stay.  Consider a stay at  Homestay during your visit to Dwarahat. This cozy accommodation provides comfortable cottages amidst lush greenery, boasting beautiful mountain views. With basic amenities like hot water and clean bedding, it offers a peaceful stay, along with delicious vegetarian meals prepared in-house.

  • Village stay 

Kukuchina village, renowned for its connection to the Mahavatar Babaji Cave, offers an authentic rural experience. Engage with the locals, predominantly involved in agriculture and animal husbandry, and immerse yourself in the tranquility of village life.

  • Dharamshala Stay
