Adi Badri Temple Uttarakhand, distance & where to stay
As I travel up north along the banks of the river Ganges, I soon come across a lovely village called Adi Badri, dotted with ancient Vishnu temples and natural delights at every turns, which is located approx. 19 km away from the famous town Karnprayag in the state of Uttarakhand.
Adi Badri Temple Uttarakhand is part of the famous Panch Badri in the Himalayas. It is a group of sixteen temples from the Gupta period. Among them is the Narayan temple, which has a three-foot-high black stone idol of Vishnu. This place is within the Badrikshetra, and since Badrinath is another name for Vishnu, the temple is called Adi Badri Temple Uttarakhand.

Adi Badri Mandir in Karnaprayag
It is believed that Adi Guru Shankaracharya initiated the construction of these temples. The main temple of Narayan is notable for its raised pyramidal platform, where the black stone idol of Lord Vishnu is enshrined.
Adi Badri Mandir Mythology
According to legend, Lord Vishnu resided at Adi Badri during the Satya, Treta, and Dwapar yugas before moving to Badrinath in the Kali Yuga. When the road to Badrinath is closed due to weather conditions, devotees worship Lord Vishnu at Adi Badri.
Ancient saints and seers prophesied that Lord Vishnu will shift his abode to Bhavishya Badri in the Satya Yuga after the Kali Yuga ends.
Another legend states that Maharishi Ved Vyas, who divided the Vedas into Rigveda, Samveda, Yajurveda, and Atharveda, wrote the Bhagavad Gita at Adi Badri Temple Uttarakhand, which was delivered by the God himself.
