As I start cycling at 6 am towards Maldevta in Dehradun, I see the city slowly waking up. This is my first stop on my 5-day cycling journey around Uttarakhand, and I’m super excited to begin. The overnight rain has cooled down the temperature, making the summer morning in Dehradun pleasant.
Every day, the sunrise looks different, giving me the feeling of visiting a new town each time. The roads are lined with beautiful trees, and the view of the sunset is so breathtaking, like something you’d see in a travel magazine. It’s a fantastic start to my cycling adventure!

Maldevta Dehradun is a special place in Uttarakhand that locals consider a hidden treasure in Uttarakhand. When I arrived there, I didn’t even feel sweaty because the strong breeze blew it all away while riding my bike.
As I rode down a steep and rocky path, I heard the sound of water falling. When I reached a clearing with grass, I saw a beautiful sight: white foam in the water and rapids created by a mountain stream rushing downstream. It was a stunning view! Maldevta Dehradun is a great place for your adventures! There are many roads nearby where you can go and explore, feeling like you’re getting lost in the distance. Not many cars are on these roads, so you can be adventurous and go off the beaten path if you want!
Feeling the wind in your hair while driving is amazing. We recommend taking it easy and enjoying the beautiful view from high above before zooming down to the ground level and exploring less-traveled paths.
Many joggers stop by the springs of Maldevta to quench their thirst. The area has more than 80% forest coverage and a clean water source. You can do activities like hiking here, but it’s especially popular among people who come to refresh themselves with the natural springs. It’s a fantastic spot for outdoor fun and relaxation!

Maldevta Waterfall
One of the most scenic waterfalls nearby Rishikesh is Maldevta. There is a 20 min hike starting from Hathipool where people gather to have some lunch and enjoy the view of the beautiful waterfall.
Reaching There
Maldevta is located at a distance of 18 kilometers away from the city center, ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal) and it will take one to 45 minutes via cab to travel to Maldevta. It’s important to know that you could always head off to Sahastradhara to experience the complimenting lush green and streams of a place.
Located in the Shripur riverside area, on the outskirts of Dehradun, the place is easily reached by bus directly from ISBT. You can experience an entire weekend of peace and tranquillity away from your daily routine in this wonderfully laid-out destination!
By Air
If you have arrived in the city by air, it is possible to take a cab from Jolly Grant Airport. There are resorts available near Maldevta and one could start off early morning or in the evening for the river trek to Gairal which is an uphill walk. Other popular spots include Malsi Deer Park and Robber’s Cave.
