Secret of Haidakhan Babaji Ashram Haldwani, Nainital, India

Haidakhan Vishwa Mahadham (Village Haidakhan, District Nainital), India

In 1970, Shri Babaji appeared in a holy cave at the foot of Mount Adi Kailash in Haidakhan, Kumaon. He looked like a young man of 18 or 20 years old.

In Uttarakhand (Uttarakhand news) in one morning of June 1970 a young ascetic appeared in a stony cave of village Haidakhan situated on bank of Ganga. His age seemed hardly 27–28 years but the radiance of his face was pulling people toward him.

In September when this ascetic sat in meditation then after 45 days he rose. His name was not known to anyone. People started calling him Haidakhan Baba (Haidakhan Babaji), many gave him name Mahavatar Baba. Their belief was that this is the same ‘Mahavatar Baba’ who since ages has been residing in Himalaya.

Haidakhan Babaji:

In Uttarakhand Haidakhan Baba is considered incarnation of Lord Shiva. Many people also used to call him Mahavatar Baba. His disciples are not only in the country but also abroad. He came before the public for merely 14 years but he left deep impact on minds of people.

Age of Haidakhan Babaji

Munindra Maharaj, also known as Munindra Bhagwan or Old Haidakhan Baba , is a figure shrouded in mystery. No one knows exactly when or where he came from. Only stories from the late nineteenth century give us some information.

In the Kumaon region, which is now part of Uttarakhand in northern India, his name is well-known among devotees, and he is praised in the most wonderful terms in the local language as he wandered through this area.

We know that he stayed in very small villages like Siddhashram in Sheetlakhet, Chedhu Ashram for a long time, Kausani, Kakrighat (with Somvari Baba), Dwarahat, and Haidakhan, where he built the original temple with the help of villagers.

There is a small but very beautiful booklet written by Vishnu Dutt Shastri’s brother, which contains many stories about Munindra Maharaj. It was published as “Haidakhan Baba: Known and Unknown” and later republished by the American society as “From Age to Age” (highly recommended).

In these accounts, he performed supernatural acts such as reviving people from death, including himself, locating hidden water sources, multiplying food, sitting in fire, and turning water into ghee.

He also worked as a laborer on the Bhimtal Dam and helped a devotee build his house with his bare hands, not just for a few days but for months. Other great saints like Somvari Baba declared him to be the highest divine manifestation.

After returning from a pilgrimage to Kailash in Tibet, Babaji went to meet a local king near the India-Nepal border. When the local king left, he offered Babaji his palanquin while the king himself helped carry it.

Upon reaching a nearby river, Babaji asked everyone to stop. As they crossed the river, Babaji sat in the middle and vanished in a flash of light.

Istha Devi and Haidakhandeshwari Maa

Istha Devi means “our personal goddess,” and for Babaji’s devotees, Haidakhandeshwari Maa is that divine presence. She is the same divine mother known by various names such as Durga, Jagdamba (Mother of the World), and many others. She takes on many forms to fulfill her divine mission of providing devotion, liberation, abundance, and freedom to her children on Earth.

For Babaji’s devotees, having a tangible goddess like Haidakhandeshwari Maa makes the relationship more personal.

Haidakhandeshwari Maa embodies the qualities of the three divine aspects of the mother: Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati. Additionally, she has a distinctive local Kumaoni feature, which can be seen in the traditional clothes and jewelry she wears.

Haidakhan Babaji Ashram is an ecstatic place with amazing surroundings. We hope you will find time to spiritually elevate your experience by visiting this Ashram.

Actor Shammi Kapoor visited

In year 1974 the famous film actor Shammi Kapoor’s family invited him to their house. Shammi Kapoor did not have any interest in all these things.

But he was busy in shooting of films, yet on insistence of family he sat in far corner and started taking photos of Haidakhan Baba. Suddenly he felt that Baba was looking at him only. For Shammi Kapoor this was a unique experience.

Hearing this Shammi Kapoor felt a strange peace. Slowly his habit of drinking alcohol and other habits left him on their own and he began to go into deep meditation.

After this till his last time Shammi Kapoor remained absorbed in spirituality. He also created a website which was dedicated to Haidakhan Baba.
