Triyuginarayan Mandir holds great significance in Hinduism due to its eternally burning Triyuginarayan temple fire, which gives the temple its name. “Akhand” means “Perpetual” and “Dhuni” means “Flame,” highlighting the importance of this eternal flame. Additionally, a water stream from the temple fills nearby Kunds.

The temple’s architecture is similar to that of the Kedarnath temple and it houses a 2-feet high image of Lord Vishnu along with Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati. This makes it a revered pilgrimage site for devotees of Lord Vishnu and his consort

  • There is an interesting story related to the history of the temple, which is located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. According to the story, Triyuginarayan was the capital of Himavat, where the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati took place at the Brahmashila.
  • The temple is believed to be the exact spot on Earth where this wedding ceremony occurred.
  • According to legend, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married at this very spot. The temple is  on the banks of the Mandakini River.  We believe that visiting this temple and taking a dip in the nearby Kund (pond) can help one attain moksha (liberation).
  • Just outside the temple, there is a small temple of  Panchanama devatas: Goddess Annapurneshvari, Lord Ishaneshwar, Lord Hanuman, Lord Shiva and on the gate, there is Lord Ganesha’s idol.
