The Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) in Rishikesh is the best place for meditation in India. When I traveled all over India and asked other people, they all said SRSG is the best too.

Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) Rishikesh:
  • Founded by: Swami Veda Bharati
  • Focus: Himalayan Yoga Tradition, Meditation
  • Programs: Meditation, Yoga, Spiritual Retreats
  • Accommodations: Comfortable cottages with modern amenities
  • Facilities: Meditation hall, library, dining hall, lecture rooms
  • Atmosphere: Serene and peaceful for spiritual growth and practice

Meditation in the Himalayan Tradition

I watched Swami Rama’s talks on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and felt a strong connection with him. He had so much wisdom and spoke with conviction. I watched all his lectures and read some of his books, like “Living with the Himalayan Masters.” I wanted to experience his teachings directly, so I decided to visit SRSG, which was founded by Swami Veda Bharati, one of Swami Rama’s main students.

May of our clints also recommended the Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama Ashram. They say, “Swami Veda is one of the greatest yogis of modern times.”

  • SRSG is all about meditation in the Himalayan Tradition. Every activity, teaching, and practice is aimed at meditation. I stayed there for three weeks and loved it so much that I planned to return.

The Ashram ( Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama Ashram )

Outside the ashram, the area is not so nice, but inside, it feels like a resort with grass, trees, and flowers everywhere. The ashram is very green and feels peaceful. The accommodations are very comfortable, with 36 brick cottages that have kitchens, living rooms, air conditioners, fans, and hot water.

The air outside can be dusty and smoky, but that’s the same all over Rishikesh. When it rains, the air clears, and you can see the mountains and stars.
