Milam Glacier: Why you should visit this place?

About Milam Glacier

The Milam Glacier is the source of the Gori Ganga River, which is an important tributary of the Kali River. It is situated 60 km from Munsiyari, and the trek to it is graded as moderate due to its length adventure seekers will find themselves rewarded with mesmerizing views of the Himalayas, verdant meadows, lush green valleys, waterfalls, pine forests, and isolated hamlets.

The trek involves crossing hills, walking along the Gori Ganga River, and rugged terrains. The trail offers views of quaint villages, picturesque streams, waterfalls, and the snow-laden Himalayas. The route to Milam glacier has several vantage points offering panoramic vistas of mountains, friendly people, varied flora and fauna, and green landscapes.

Location:

it is situated at the base of Mount Trishuli (7065 mts). It can be reached from Munsiyari, where provisions for food, porters, and guides can be made. The Mil is perched at an elevation of 3438 mts above sea level, 60 km beyond Munsiyari. The trail to the Milam Glacier goes through forests, waterfalls, villages, chunks of ice, and wooden bridges.

It is one of the most remote yet still accessible glaciers to trekking in all of Uttarakhand. The grandeur of peaks like Hardeol (7,151m), Mangraon (6,568 m), Deo Damla (6,637 m), and Sakram (6,254 m) can all be experienced while on this trail. The glacier is also the source of the Goriganga River which is an important tributary to the Kali River.
