Mayur Nature Park: Work to Start Soon on Delhi’s Largest Yamuna Park
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is all set to start work on its biggest park along the Yamuna River. The Mayur Nature Park will cover 370 hectares and will help restore the Yamuna floodplains. This is part of the Yamuna Floodplain Restoration initiative to clean and protect the river.
Where is the Park?
- Located on the eastern bank of the Yamuna River
- Stretches 3.81 km long and 2.18 km wide
- Lies between Nizamuddin Bridge (NH-24) and DND Flyway
- Close to Barapullah Phase 3 flyover and Delhi Metro’s Pink Line
- Surrounded by Noida Link Road, Baansera, and Kalindi Aviral projects
Why is this Park Important?
- Will reduce pollution in the Yamuna
- Will help restore the river’s ecosystem
- Follows the 2015 National Green Tribunal (NGT) orders for Yamuna beautification
- Part of 10 major projects to clean and revive the river

Other Recent Projects Along the Yamuna
- Asita East Park (197 hectares) – the second largest Yamuna park
- Amrut Biodiversity Park (115 hectares) – opened on March 8
- Yamuna Ferry Service – agreement signed on March 12 for ferry operations
Project Cost and Approval
The project has been approved by the government and will cost Rs 136 crore. Work will begin soon to make this a green and pollution-free zone for the city.
