Kalsi Dehradun: want to see trible rural life?

Looking for a gateway to the Jaunsar-Bawar tribal area? Kalsi Dehradun is your answer! This picturesque town is situated between Dehradun and Chakrata Hill Station, on the banks of the Yamuna River. With its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, inhabited by people belonging to the Khil, Bhuti and Mundar communities, Kalsi is a place that gives people a feel of rural life.

Kalsi Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand is a state in Northern India. It is often referred to as the “Land of the Gods” due to the many Hindu temples and pilgrimage sites located throughout the region. The state is home to the Himalayan mountains, and its capital city is Dehradun. Kalsi is a small town located in Uttarakhand, and it is surrounded by lush green oak and sal trees. The town is also situated near a vast green valley, which provides visitors with stunning views of the Garhwal ranges.

Some of the exotic birds you may see here are red-crested pochards, coots, cormorants, wagtails, greater spotted eagles, osprey, and marsh harrier. If you’re in the area, a visit to Asan Barrage is definitely worth your while.

Chakrata Hills

Chakrata Hill Station is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. With its stunning views of the Chakrata hills and its beautiful waterfalls, it’s a perfect spot for a relaxing vacation. Trekking is also popular here, and there are some great trails to explore. And of course, no visit to Chakrata would be complete without visiting some of its famous waterfalls – they’re sure to provide you with hours of fun.

The foothills of Chakrata offer both intriguing trekking trails and the opportunity to go birding and botanizing. Right now is the best time to try your hand at angling for mahseer. You can also go rafting down the Yamuna, which is quite an experience. You’ll get the thrill of the rapids as well as the chance to enjoy the gorgeous landscape and birdlife along the tranquil patches of the river. Be sure to bring a camera and binoculars!

Timil Pass

Timli Pass is a place with a lot of history. It’s believed to be the site of a battle between the British Army, making it a popular destination for those who are interested in both history and sights.

How to reach

By Flight – The closest airport to Kalsi city is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. You can rent a car from one of the top car rental companies in Dehradun and reach Kalsi in about 2 hours.

By Train – The best way to get to Kalsi village from Dehradun Railway Station is by taxi or local bus. Both are easily accessible and will get you to your destination in no time.

By Road –  Kalsi is a small town located on NH123 near Dakpathar. You can reach it by car from Delhi/NCR and other cities in the area, or by taking a private or state bus to Dehradun.
