Travel to Be Completed in 45 Minutes

With the construction of a ropeway from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib, the journey will be completed in just 45 minutes. Currently, pilgrims have to undertake a strenuous 19 km trek to reach Hemkund Sahib.

This involves staying overnight in Ghangaria on the first day, followed by visiting Hemkund Sahib the next day and returning to Ghangaria for another overnight stay. Pilgrims then make their way back to Govindghat the following day.

Once the ropeway is operational, devotees will be able to travel from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib in just 45 minutes, with an approximate cost of ₹1,100. This development will greatly benefit elderly and differently-abled devotees by providing them with easier access to the holy site.
