The total distance from Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji cave is approx. 435 km by road, but you can not cover this much distance in one day by road.

if you combine your mode of transportation by car and by train than it is very much possible to reach nearest point like Dwarahat town or Kukcucchina village in one day road trip.

Keep it in mind that straight journey from Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji cave will be very tiresome and less enjoyable. You miss many key stops attractions  and  essence of the journey in the Himalayas.\

By Road: Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji Cave

  • Board on scenic road trip  from New  Delhi to Ranikhet (about 400 km, 8-10 hours) via Haldwani, Bhimtal, and Nainital and you will reach Ranikhet, 
  • On the next morning, take a car from Ranikhet to Babaji Cave (62 km, 2 hours), passing through Dwarahat and Kukuchina village.
  • When you reach tail end of the road at Kukuchina village, hike for approximately 3 km  to reach this cave. This is a moderate tail, you cover in around 60–90 minutes..
  • Once you reach, you  can meditate inside the cave and visit the nearby YSS Hut.

By Train: Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji Cave

  • Board on highspeed train,  NDLS-KGM Shatabdi Express from New Delhi Railway Station at 6:20 AM, arriving at Kathgodam by 11:40 AM.
  • Once you reach at Kathgodam, you have to travel by road up to the cave via Nainital,  Ranikhet and Dwarahat, journeying  about 140 km and taking time about  5–6 hours.
  • On the way, you could stop at Kainchi Dham (Neem Karoli Baba Ashram) for a spiritual break.
  • You can opt  overnight in Dwarahat, or you keep going more 25 km up  to Kukuchina village and make overnight there
  • Next Day, you go following 2-3 km trail to visit  Mahavatar Babaji Cave.

By Air: Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji Cave

  • Fly from New Delhi  Airport for  Pantnagar Airport, 60 minutes journey 
  • Once you arrive at  Pantnagar Airport, you will take road trip to continue you journey passing through  Nainital, Ranikhet, and Dwarahat up to Kukuchina village.

 By Road  Tour Itinerary

2 Nights 3 Days Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji Cave

You will drive in private car  from New Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji Cave, following pre- planned itinerary, requires minimum  2 Nights and 3 Days.

  • Day 1: Delhi to Ranikhet (400 km, 8-10 hrs)

Your Babaji’s cave trip starts in the early morning, private car’s driver pickups you up from New Delhi Airport or from your hotel, and you go for long drive  approximately 8-10 hours,  through Haldwani, Bhimtal, and Nainital towns. . Once you arrive  Ranikhet, Uttarakhand, You will make overnight there. 

  • Day 2: Ranikhet to Babaji Cave (62 km / 2 hrs)

After early morning  breakfast, you private driver take you to the  Mahavatar Babaji Cave via Dwarahat and Kukuchina village, approx. road drive time 2 hours.

After enjoying a scenic 2-hour drive, you must arrive at the tail end of the motorable road and go by hike for 3 km  to reach Babaji Cave. 

Later, hike back following same path, up to Kukucchina village, and you will be hungry by the time you arrive at car parking place, so, you can have lunch there at Joshi guest house and return to Ranikhet.

If you will have some spare time than you can think about  Dunagiri Temple and the Dwarahat group of temples. 

  • Day 3: Ranikhet to Delhi (400 km, 8-10 hrs)

You must have  an early morning breakfast, drive in your private car to return your final destination New Delhi.  On the way you can visit Bhimtal,  if you think that I have time.  Later, continue the drive back to New Delhi.

 By Train:  Tour Itinerary Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji Cave

Here’s the route map for traveling from New Delhi to the Mahavatar Babaji Cave;
Day 01: New Delhi to Kathgodam by Train, then Surface Journey
  • You take a early morning transfer in a private transport for New Delhi Railway Station.
  • Board the NDLS-KGM Shatabdi Train (Train No.1204). This train departs at 06:20 AM from New Delhi Railway station.
  • Your arrival is at Kathgodam Railway Station at 11:40 AM, then you driver will pick you  up from platform and drive you away in private car for Dwarahat. Toady road trip will be zig-zag for a 5-hour,  approximately 140 kilometers.
  • On the way, if now crowds ad  Kainchi Dham Ashram , then you can have quick walk to see the temple and Ashram.
  • You will check into your hotel in Dwarahat around  05:00 -6:00 PM.
Day 2: Discover Kukuchina and Babaji Cave
  • You will go for breakfast in your hotel’s restaurant around at 08:00, immediate after breakfast one hour pin forested road trip to reach Kukucchina village, it marks the last point of  motorable road. 
  • After reaching at village check you backpacks and necessary prayer items like flowers and water etc.  and follow off beaten path up to Babaji Cave.
  • After spending time on your own inside the cave and around, hike  back, following same trail up to the tail end of the road  to drive back to your accommodation.
Day 3: Returning to Kathgodam Railway Station
  • Early morning breakfast at 07:30 AM, and driving  to Kathgodam Railway Station
  • You will follow the same route once you have drove via Ranikhet and Nainital,  140-kilometer long trip with a lunch break on the way.
  • You will arrive at Kathgodam Railway Station before  03:35 PM to board the KGM-NDLS Shatabdi Train (No.12039).
  • Your train will arrive at New Delhi Railway Station at 08:50 PM. Again your driver will give you transfer to your hotel. Tour End.

By Air Tour Itinerary 

2 Nights / 3 Days  Pantnagar Airport to Babaji Cave

Day 01: New Delhi to Pantnagar Airport by flight, then Surface Trip
  • Hired Taxi Driver will give you transfer to New Delhi Airport Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji Cave
  • Boarding on Indigo flight departing at 08:20 AM from New Delhi, you arrive at 9:20 am at Pantnagar Airport.
  • Pantnagar to Dwarahat  distance is 160 kilometers.
  • Your driver will meet you at exit gate at Airport and then take you on a half-day road trip for Dwarahat in 6-hour.
  • One the way, if you wish to see famous Ashram of Neem Karoli Baba  then your diver will stop his car,  just in the front ashram’s gate, so easily you can pay quick look.
  • You will be checking  into your hotel in Dwarahat by 05:00 PM.
Day 2: Discover Kukuchina and Babaji Cave
  • Today, you will take breakfast around  08:00 AM in the hotel and you will go Babaji cave with driver.
  • You will reach around 09:20 AM at Kukucchina village where motorable road ends, your driver park his car there and drop you off at the trail starting point. 
  • Now, you follow the trail and long the trail you see small arrow sign for Babaji cave,  in a 60 or 90 minutes hiking , you will appear at the Mahavatar Babaji cave.
  • You will remove the shoes outside of the cave and go inside and  set yourself in one corner of the cave. 
  • Later, follow the same trail to find you driver at Kukucchina village and return to hotel, overnight.
Day 3: Returning  to Pantnagar Airport
  • Enjoy early morning breakfast at 06:30 AM before returning  to Pantnagar Airport.
  • Travel by road via Ranikhet and Nainital, covering a scenic 160-kilometer route with a lunch break on the way
