Discover Chilla Range in Rishikesh: My Experience of Rajaji National Park
Today I went to Rajaji Tiger Reserve through the Chilla range, We stayed near the gate and booked a vehicle the previous evening for an early morning safari. We reached around 5.30 AM and started with a safari round right away. The forest is filled with lots of wildlife, a lot of birds, deer and of course the famous tigers
Overview: Chilla Range
The tourists can do only jeep safari now. We started our safari with a Jeep safari and covered a lot of distance and saw a lot of animals. The guide was well informed about the forest and the animals in it. We saw a lot of birds and animals. We were able to see the famous tigers as well. The guide was very informative. The safari was wonderful.
On the drive back we stopped at a viewpoint where we could see the confluence of the three rivers and the Chilla range. There was a small jeep that took us on a jeep ride of the Chilla range, which was a quick ride and then we headed back to the gate. We had a wonderful experience in the Rajaji Tiger Reserve and would highly recommend it to people who love wildlife.
Chilla Range Rajaji National Park
We went on a 2,5 hour trip with a very knowledgeable and patient guide. We went on a Sunday during the Christmas break, which meant there were many jeeps. Not all visitors like peace and quiet but prefer to race through the park chatting and shouting. However, we would recommend picking a day when it will be quiet so you can fully enjoy the experience.

Chilla Wildlife Sanctuary, which covers an area of 249 square kilometers, is located on the east bank of the river Ganga. The sanctuary was established in 1977 and was merged with Motichur and Rajaji sanctuaries in 1983 to create Rajaji National Park in Rishikesh
We arranged a day trip to Chilla range from Haridwar to go on a safari. There were plenty of drivers waiting around, so it was easy to find transport to get around the park. I saw lots of wild animals but unfortunately didn’t get to see any tigers. One of the highlights was seeing a pair of elephants – a mother and her baby – that walked with the procession of safari jeeps. That was an amazing experience.
