Indian Army in Uttarakhand‘s border created a tent-based home stay in  village Garbyang . This village is located on  China and Nepal border area.

From here Kailash-Manasarovar, Lipulekh Pass, Om Parvat and Adi Kailash route passes. Army has home stay made and villagers handed over.

Now Garbyang Village Committee will take care of  tent based homestay booking responsibility. This tent based home stay promote  not only tourism but border‘s security also.

It is important place because falls on the route to Kailash Manasarovar, Om Parvat and Adi Kailash going travellers . In such case, travellers could stay at this home stay quite helpful for villagers.

Garbyang, known as the Gateway to Gunji, lies at the tri-junction of India, Nepal, and Tibet. This scenic Himalayan village holds great strategic and spiritual importance, serving as a key stop on the Adi Kailash and Om Parvat-Kalapani pilgrimage routes. It is famous for its stunning landscapes and vibrant local culture, Garbyang is emerging as a prime destination for eco-friendly and sustainable tourism.

Garbyang Village – The Sinking Village of Uttarakhand

Garbyang, once a thriving Indo-Tibet trade hub, is an ancient and picturesque village nestled in the Himalayas at an altitude of about 10,990 ft. Known as ‘Chhota Vilayat’ in its golden days, Garbyang was a flourishing center for Indo-Tibetan commerce until the Indo-China war of 1962 led to the closure of the border.

Although the trade route reopened in the 1980s, the village never regained its past glory, as many wealthy traders and residents migrated due to geological instability. Today, Garbyang is famously known as the “Sinking Village” of Uttarakhand, attracting travelers for its rich history and stunning mountain setting.

In Uttarakhand‘s Pithoragarh district, China and Nepal border adjacent Garbyang village at one time ‘India’s Europe’ and ‘Mini Europe’ was called. Its reason here‘s beautiful valleys were. Before 1962 war this area Indo-China trade center also used to be, but today this completely deserted is.

Condition such is that more than half families this village migration have done. Meanwhile, those out of compulsion here are, them village’s landslide every time frightens.

Garbyang village settled at 10,500 feet height
