Three Water Kunds

There are three sacred water Kunds—Brahma Kund, Rudra Kund, and Vishnu Kund—which hold special significance. A platform where the marriage ceremony is believed to have taken place also decorates the temple grounds.

Lord Shiva and Parvati got married?

According to Hindu scriptures, you must know that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married on the day of Shivratri. All the mythological beliefs have strong evidence in our religion.

Hindu mythology

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva proposed marriage to Goddess Parvati here at Triyuginarayan. Goddess Parvati, the daughter of Parvataraja Himavan, was reborn as Goddess Sati. In this new birth, she chose Lord Shiva through deep meditation and sadhana.

The place where Goddess Parvati performed her rigorous sadhana to win Lord Shiva’s love is called Gauri Kund. Devotees who visit Triyuginarayan also make sure to visit Gauri Kund, as it is closely connected to the divine story of their union.

Mythological texts tell us that Lord Shiva proposed marriage to Goddess Parvati in Gupta Kashi.

The marriage of Shiv-Parvati took place at the confluence of the Mandakini, Son, and Ganga rivers in Triyuginarayan village. All the gods who attended the wedding took a bath here, which is why three sacred ponds were created—Rudra Kund, Vishnu Kund, and Brahma Kund. The water in these ponds comes from Saraswati Kund.

Saraswati Kund is believed to have been created from the nose of Lord Vishnu, and it is said that childless couples are blessed with children after taking a bath in this Kund.

Conclusion

In the wedding, Lord Vishnu became the brother of Goddess Parvati, and Lord Brahma served as the priest. According to mythology, Lord Vaman also incarnated at this place. Even today, many devotees come here for darshan, and their wishes are believed to be fulfilled by the divine presence at this sacred spot.
