In an exciting development for Uttarakhand’s connectivity infrastructure.  Ajit Singh Yadav announced on Friday that significant strides have been made in the Rishikesh to Karnaprayag rail line project. Approximately 70% of the track-laying work for the 125-kilometer rail line has been successfully completed.

Yadav, providing updates on the project’s progress, highlighted the achievement of the project implementation unit based in Rishikesh. They have managed to construct tunnels spanning a distance of 60 kilometers and completed the concrete lining work within the designated timeframe.

This ambitious project Rishikesh to Karnaprayag aims to bolster connectivity in the region. It is on track, will complete by December 2025. Rishikesh to Karnaprayag distance by train is+ 125 kilometers in length, with about 105 kilometers slated to be developed within tunnels. It promises to revolutionize transportation in Uttarakhand.

Railway Development Corporation

Addressing reporters at the Railway Development Corporation Directorate, Yadav emphasized several significant milestones achieved.

There are sixteen main railway bridges and four small railway bridges have been constructed, along with motor bridges connecting railway stations at Srinagar Garhwal, Gauchar, and Kaleshwar.

Proposed by the Indian Railways to facilitate access to the Char Dham pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand, the railway line will operate from the Yog Nagari Rishikesh railway station to Karnaprayag. With an estimated cost of Rs 16,200 crore, the project holds the promise of significantly enhancing transportation infrastructure upon completion.
