It has been built by Kailashananda Trust, a popular Hindu temple (place of worship) in Rishikesh. It is, in fact, the biggest temple in the entire part of Rishikesh. Located in the Lakshma Jhula area, the Tera Manzil temple is easily accessible from the main road.

The temple is a multi-story edifice. It is a popular tourist destination for its huge, symmetrical architecture and stunning views. From the top floor of the temple, visitors can witness a panoramic sunset view.

Temple Legends

Tera Manzil temple is devoted to Lord Shiva, the god of destruction and renewal, It’s said that the temple has been built by a Hindu monk in 19 century. But there are some other theories that suggest that the temple is the place where the lord Lakshman ( brother of lord Rama)  did his meditation on the bank.

According to the legend, when Lord Lakshman was making a lingam out of Ganges white sand, he came across a stone Lingam which was believed to be the place where Shiva meditated. Since then the temple has been a site of pilgrimage among the devotees of Shiva as well as a major attraction for tourists visiting Rishikesh.

How To reach Tera Manzil

Tera Manzil Temple is located by the river Ganga in Rishikesh, near Lakshman Jhula. To get there, you can walk from Lakshman Jhula. The nearest railway station to Lakshman Jhula is Rishikesh.
