Experience one of the most scenic day treks near Rishikesh, the Kunjapuri–Secret Waterfall Trek. This full-day downhill adventure starts with a 1 hour drive to the famous Kunjapuri Devi Temple, which is offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks.
The temple is famous for mountain sunrise point in Rishikesh, easy to reach there by road from Rishikesh which is 32 km away and requires 45 minutes or 1 hour drive. The temple is located at 1675 meter from sea level and height point nearby Rishikesh, offer panormic view of Rishikesh , Haridwar, Rajaji National Park with Doon valley.
After witnessing the stunning sunrise and temple’s blessing, from the temple, starts a guided downhill trek through peaceful jungle, traditional Himalayan villages, Barkot where you take a pause for lunch, and continue to beat trail towards Tapovan area of Rishikesh.

Lunch at Barkot Village
Take a breathtaking lunch break at the beautiful Barkot village, a remote village just 3 km down to Kunjapuri temple, located inside the Jungle, there are few houses but most of house are abandoned now only 5-6 people are living in the village , have a traditional lunch at village and spend some time with them and continue trek towards Tapovan.
Secret Waterfall
It is one of Tapovan’s lesser known waterbody by lush Himalayan forest. Here after long downhill trek you need to take some rest for relax beside a refreshing waterfall with crystal-clear natural pools.
It provides best angle to capture stunning photos of moss-covered rocks and scenic mountain landscapes, it also the place where you can sit in yoga posture to experience more the peaceful atmosphere of waterfalls area. After refreshment at waterfall. continue walking through scenic woodland trails along the valley’s river filled with birdsong and fresh mountain air.
Tapovan
Once you reach at Tapovan main junction area that marks end of your trekking adventure, Tapovan is famous as hotspot of Rishikesh , where almost all yoga teacher training schools , famous restaurants and tourism offices are located of Rishikesh.
