Located in the Jhunsi area, about 14 kilometers from Prayagraj, Ulta Qila (meaning “Upside-Down Fort”) is steeped in legend. The name comes from the story of King Haribong, who ruled Jhunsi. Known for his poor decisions, the king once offered something inappropriate to a saint.

Angered, the saint cursed him, predicting that a star would fall on the fort, turning it upside down. According to the tale, the Mirrikh star did indeed fall, leaving the fort overturned ever since. ISKCON Prayagraj

Shree Akhileshwar Mahadev

Situated near Rasulabad Ghat Road in Prayagraj, the Shree Akhileshwar Mahadev temple is part of the Chinmaya Mission. Spanning over an area of about 500 square feet, the temple complex was founded on October 30, 2004, by Swami Tejomayanandaji and Swami Subodhanandaji of Chinmaya Mission.

The temple features intricately carved pink sandstone from Rajasthan, shaping the Dhyan Mandapam (meditation hall). The foundation also includes a Satsang Bhavan with a seating capacity of 300 people, designed to accommodate devotional gatherings and essential services for the devotees of Shree Akhileshwar Mahadev.

All Saints Cathedral

All Saints Cathedral, also known as Patthar Girja (Stone Church), is a stunning colonial structure in Prayagraj, built in the late 19th century. This beautiful Anglican Church was designed in Gothic style by Sir William Emerson in 1870. Places to visit near Allahabad within 50 km

Shringverpur

Shringverpur is an important excursion destination near Prayagraj, located 45 km away on the Lucknow road. According to local legends, this is the place where Lord Rama crossed the river Ganges with Sita and Lakshmana while going into exile. The village is peaceful and quiet but holds great significance in the Ramayana. It is said to have been the capital of Nishadraj, the King of Fishermen.

Excavations have also revealed a temple dedicated to Shringi Rishi, from whom the village might have gotten its name. However, the place is more famous for the incident where Nishadraj washed Lord Rama’s feet. The Ramayana tells us that when Lord Rama and his family arrived, the boatmen refused to let them cross the river.

Nishadraj came to resolve the matter and was allowed to wash Rama’s feet as a sign of his respect. The spot where this happened is now marked by a platform called Ramchura. Though the temple nearby is small and doesn’t hold historical importance, the serene atmosphere of Shringverpur makes it special.
