The president of Parmarth Niketan, Swami Chidanand Saraswati, started the Ganga Aarti in the year 1997. For about 28 years, the Ganga Aarti has been continuing daily without interruption. Swami Chidanand said that rivers are the blood vessels of the earth, in the water of rivers echoes the sound of Indian culture.

The Parmarth Niketan Ganga Aarti happens every evening, just as the sun begins to set. The exact timing of the aarti varies depending on the season, so it is advisable to check the schedule in advance.

Parmarth Niketan Ganga Aarti During the summer months (April to September), the Parmarth Niketan Ganga Aarti usually starts at around 5:00 p.m., while in the winter months (October to March), it begins at around 4:30 p.m. It is recommended to arrive at least 30 minutes early to secure a good spot.

At Parmarth Niketan, on the banks of the Ganga, in the year 1997, the Aarti of Mother Ganga was started. On the same lines, in the year 1998, under the leadership of Swami Chidanand Saraswati, a grand Ganga Aarti was organized on the banks of the Bagmati River in front of the Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal.

In the year 1999, in Varanasi, along with the Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh K. S. Sudarshan, the Dalai Lama, Ashok Singhal, and many distinguished personalities, musicians, and artists, a grand Ganga Aarti program was organized, which has now become a part of Incredible India.

In the year 2000 at Gangotri, in the year 2001 at Prayagraj, the Ganga Aarti was started. In the year 2002 at Rudraprayag, in Ujjain the Kshipra Aarti, in the year 2016 the Yamuna Aarti in Agra, in the year 2023 the Yamuna Aarti at Deoraha Baba Ghat in Vrindavan, then also Yamuna Aarti in Delhi, in Mauritius, after that at Devprayag, in Uttarkashi, and at many other places the sequence of Aarti started.
