Kedarnath Ropeway Timings: Travel to be completed in 36 min
Kedarnath Ropeway: A Quick Journey to Divinity
The upcoming Kedarnath Ropeway is set to become one of the world’s longest ropeways, reaching an altitude of 3,583 meters above sea level. The original plan estimated that the ropeway could accommodate 3,600 passengers per hour in each direction, but recent studies on the carrying capacity of hill stations might lead to limitations on the number of passengers.

Overview: Kedarnath Ropeway Timings
The dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a ropeway between Sonprayag and Kedarnath covering approximately 13 kilometers, has been awarded to Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL).
The National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) has issued the Letter of Award (LOA) for the project. With an investment of ₹4081 crore, the construction of the ropeway project will be completed within six years.
The Adani Group will operate the project for 29 years. With the ropeway, the 13-kilometer journey will be completed in just 36 minutes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of this ropeway on October 21, 2022, at Kedarnath.
At present, devotees reach Kedarnath after completing a 16-kilometer difficult trek on foot, or by horses, palanquins, and helicopters. Travelers heading to Kedarnath Temple can only reach Sonprayag via road transport.
