Badrinath Temple Timings– It opens at 0430 hrs and closes at 1300 hrs. Once again it opens at 1600 hrs and closes at 2100 hrs after the divine song Geet Govind.  Rawal Ji, the administrator and Pujari of the temple, is well-versed in Puja ceremonials and Sanskrit. The temple does not allow photography inside the premises.

The Rawal, or head priest, is traditionally a Nambudiri Brahmin chosen from the South Indian state of Kerala. This tradition is believed to have been started by Adi Shankara, a South Indian philosopher.

Badrinath which god?

The Badrinath Temple is one of the most famous temples in India. It sits in the town of Badrinath and the temple stands for  Lord Vishnu. The temple is built with stone walls and carvings and has a North Indian style of architecture.

Badrinath Temple Darshan Timings

  • The daily rituals at the Badrinath temple timings start very early, around 4.30 am with Maha Abhishek and Abhishek Puja, and end at around 8.30 -9 pm with the Shayan Aarti.
  • Badrinath Darshan Timings: The temple opens for darshan for the general public around 7-8 am and there is an afternoon recess between 1 Pm to 4 pm.
  • Badrinath temple ( Badrinath temple timings )  is open for puja during six months of the year, from April-May to October-November. However, the specific day that the temple opens is determined by astrological configurations on Basant Panchami (in February-March).

  • Book Pujas (online and offline) are  on behalf of devotees. Every Puja must perform after a holy dip in the Tapta Kund. Some of the morning Pujas are – Mahabhishek, Adhishek, Gitapath, and Bhagwat Path, while the evening pujas are Geet Govind and Aarti.

Temple Structure

The main entrance gate of the Badrinath temple is colorful and imposing and is popularly famous as Singhdwar. The temple is approximately 50 feet tall, with a small cupola on top covered with a gold gilt roof.

  • 1- The ‘Garbha Griha ( Sanctum sanctorum)
  • 2- The Darshan Mandap for Rituals and Ceremonies
  • 3- The Sabha Mandap  for devotees gathering.

1- The Garbha Griha portion of the temple has a gold-covered canopy and houses Lord Badari Narayan, Kuber (God of wealth), Narad rishi, Udhava, Nar & Narayan. The complex has 15 idols, including a finely sculpted one-meter-high black stone image of Lord Badrinath. According to legend, Shankara discovered the image of Lord Badrinarayan in the Alaknanda River.

2- The Darshan Mandap at Badari Narayan is a sight to behold. Under the Badri tree, Badri Vishal stands with a conch and chakra held high in two arms, while the other two arms are in yogic gestures. Kuber and Garuda watch over, alongside Narad, Narayan, and Nar. To the right of Badrinarayana is Uddhava.

3- The Sabha Mandap is a place where devotees and pilgrims can gather in the Badrinath Temple complex. It is a place where people can come together to pray and worship.
