In the state of Uttarakhand, there is a place called Yamakeshwar. It is located between the two gateways of Haridwar and Kotdwar, in this district, Pauri district in the Garhwal Mandal.
It is the very ancient temple of Lord Shiva in the name of Yamakeshwar Mahadev. This temple is situated in the suburbs of the hills, three kilometers below the place called Amoka, between Rishikesh Laxman Jhula Kotdwar Marg.
The distance of the temple from Kotdwar is about 84 km, while from Laxmanjhula is 50 km. This place related to the legend of Victory on the death of Markandeya Mahadev has been described in various mythologies and it is a center of great importance and respect for public opinion.
Due to Badri-Kedar, the Yamakeshwar temple could not come to light in the public. Some folk stories related to this temple are very popular in Himalayan Mythology.
