Day 1 – Trek to Kota Village
Meet your trekking guide and begin a scenic drive from Rishikesh to Phool Chatti Ashram, located 7 km from Rishikesh town. This ashram marks the starting point of your trek. The ashram is located on the left bank of the Ganges at the confluence of the Huel and Ganges rivers.
The trail passes through beautiful jungle paths along the Ganges River inside Rajaji National Park. It starts by crossing a wooden bridge over the Huel River and continues along the Ganges all the way to the village at the top. The beauty of this trail is that you never lose sight of the river, as the route climbs from one mountain ridge to another alongside the Ganges
Along the trail, you will enjoy spectacular Himalayan views, towering trees, birdsong, natural water streams, and terraced farms. Once you reach the top, you will visit the Temple of Goddess Kunja, which is located at the highest point of the mountain. The villagers frequently visit this temple to seek blessings and to perform wedding ceremonies..
Once you reach the village, you will stay in a traditional village home. First, you will settle in, then enjoy walking around the village, experience Himalayan cooking, interact with local families, and end the day with a delicious homemade dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2 – Return to Rishikesh
Start your day with a sunrise over the towering peaks of the Himalayas, followed by a traditional village breakfast. Observe local farming activities and the morning life of this remote Himalayan village, and have the chance to learn about Himalayan rural life. The villagers live a slow and peaceful life, with no hurry and no worry. You can truly feel their heartfelt contentment while spending time with them.
After breakfast, you will resume your adventure and start trekking downhill along the Ganges towards the sacred Vashishta Cave, which is located on the banks of the Ganges. This cave is one of the most famous caves near Rishikesh, where spiritual seekers come for meditation and yoga retreats. The cave is ancient and spiritually powerful, offering a deep meditative experience to its visitors.
Before reaching the cave, you will cross a hanging bridge on foot that is built over the Ganges, offering spectacular views of the river. After visiting cave, drive back to Rishikesh with unforgettable memories of your Himalayan village adventure.
