The cave offers breathtaking view of the river and<strong> also lush green vertical cliffs across the river<\/strong> . It is said that Sage Vashistha, the guru of Rama frequently visited here.<\/p>\n<h4>Now ( Swami Chaitanyananda )<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Swami Chaitanyananda currently takes care of\u00a0 the ashram and he\u00a0 a direct disciple of Purushottamananda. in the\u00a0 ashram complex, there is a very long cave with\u00a0 Shivalinga.<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0 famous as Vashishta\u2019s Cave or Vashishta\u2019s Ashram, the sage\u00a0 Vashistha,<strong> ( the guru of Rama and his brothers Lakshman, Bharata and Shatrughna )\u00a0 lived here 9000 years ago.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This cave maintained and lived\u00a0 by Purushottamananda from his arrival in 1928 until his departure in 1961. There is a round stone slab\u00a0 where <strong>Swami Purushottamananda used to meditate.<\/strong> The cave altar hosts a shiva lingam. It is set just little up\u00a0 hillside facing the flowing Ganga river\u00a0 across a wide sandy and rocky. That very night Jesus Christ appeared in that cave before Papa Ramdas arrived there, thus the cave has since been known as the Jesus Cave Rishikesh.<\/p>\n<p>Tradition narrates story\u00a0 that Jesus spent time in the cave during his journey to\u00a0 India , widely known as the \u2018Lost Years.\u2019 Swami Rama Tirtha also told that had\u00a0 &#8220;visions of Jesus&#8221; during his stay in the cave.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 Jesus who lived in India is a little story is popular in India and outside.
