The peaceful town of Dwarahat is located in the beautiful Kumaon hills of Uttarakhand. It sits at a height of 1,510 meters above sea level in the Almora district of Uttarakhand.<\/p>\n

Dwarahat means ‘Way to Heaven’ in the local language.<\/strong> It is known for its ancient temples built by the Katyuri kings.<\/a><\/strong> The architecture of these temples resembles that of the Gurjari School of Art.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cultural significance of Dwarahat has earned it the nickname “Uttar Dwarka,” in honor of Lord Krishna’s heavenly abode.<\/strong> The town is home to an impressive collection of 55 temples<\/strong>, which are skillfully divided into seven distinct groups.<\/p>\n

The Gujjar Dev Temple, Kachari Dewal Temple, Mandeve Temple, Ratan Dewal, Mrityunjay Mahadev Temple, Badrinath Temple, and Kedarnath Temple are venerable creations of the Katyuri dynasty, built between the 10th and 12th centuries<\/strong>. During this era, Dwarahat held the prestigious position of being the capital of the illustrious Katyuri Dynasty.<\/p>\n
