Mahavatar Babaji Cave Himalayas: Discover How It is Connected to Us<\/h1>\n

We recently went on a pilgrimage to Babaji Cave Himalayas.<\/strong><\/a> and I have visited this sacred spot before and others seeing it for the first time. It was here, in this little secluded cave in the middle of nowhere and of everywhere that we were introduced to Kriya Yoga\u2019s lineage<\/strong>. Ever Since Kriya Yoga has spread around the globe in large part thanks to Babaji\u2019s teachings.<\/p>\n

Overview: Babaji Cave Himalayas<\/span><\/h2>\n

Just by sitting there,<\/strong> the serenity and silence of the Babaji Cave Himalayas got to me. The climb up there left me breathless and I could barely breathe. The desolate beauty of that place was indescribable.<\/strong> A stillness filled the air around me and I began taking in everything around me with my eyes open.<\/p>\n

Swami Yogananda wrote a book \u2018Autobiography of a Yogi\u2019<\/strong><\/em>, and through the book, Babaji cave has obtained special fame in the world of spirituality. In his book he mentions many miraculous saints of the country. Among these saints, there is Mahavatar Babaji also.<\/p>\n

The Renaissance of Kriya Yoga: Babaji\u2019s Divine Plan<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The science of Kriya Yoga, which for ages had remained hidden, was once again spread in the world by Babaji under his divine plan. He arranged the transfer of Lahiri Mahasaya<\/strong>, a government engineer working in Ranikhet.<\/p>\n

Inviting him to the Dronagiri mountain in the Himalayas<\/strong>, Babaji, through his yogic power, created a magnificent palace there and initiated him into Kriya Yoga. This initiation was not limited only to monks; rather Babaji permitted all true seekers to practice it \u2014 this was a symbol of his compassion and universal vision.<\/p>\n

Kriya Yoga Spreads to the West through Babaji\u2019s Inspiration<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In 1920, when Yoganandaji received an invitation to participate in a religious conference in America, he prayed for divine guidance before undertaking the difficult journey.<\/p>\n

At that very moment, Babaji appeared and assured him: \u201cDo not fear; you will be protected.\u201d<\/strong> This date \u2013 25th July \u2013 is still celebrated specially in the memory of Babaji. Interested readers may obtain details for this day\u2019s observance at yssofindia.org.<\/p>\n

In this very divine meeting Babaji gave Yoganandaji clear instructions: \u201cYou are the one I have chosen to spread Kriya Yoga in the Western world<\/strong>. This scientific system will soon spread throughout the entire globe.\u201d To fulfill this great purpose, Yoganandaji established the\u00a0Yogoda Satsanga Society of India<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in India and the\u00a0Self-Realization Fellowship<\/em>\u00a0in the West.<\/p>\n

In addition to this, at the Kumbh Mela of Prayag,<\/strong> Babaji gave darshan to Yoganandaji\u2019s Guru, Shri Yukteswarji, and inspired him to write the book\u00a0Kaivalya Darshanam<\/em>. <\/strong><\/p>\n

He said: \u201cBecause of religious differences people have forgotten that all great saints have proclaimed the same Truth. By presenting equivalent quotations from different religions, prove that realization of God leads to harmony among all faiths.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mahavatar Babaji \u2013 The Ever-Youthful, Mysterious Yogi<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Babaji is a wondrous yogi who, while remaining established in the all-pervading Cosmic Consciousness<\/strong>, is still hidden from the gaze of the common people. Neither country, nor time, nor material limitations can bind him.<\/p>\n

He always appears youthful \u2014 luminous fair complexion, medium stature, strong body, serene and compassionate eyes, shining long copper-colored hair \u2014 the very imagination of his divine form fills the heart with devotion.<\/p>\n

As Lahiri Mahasaya had said, \u201cWhen someone remembers Babaji\u2019s name with faith, he instantly receives spiritual blessings.\u201d<\/strong> So, let us all together remember this divine name and become recipients of his infinite compassion.<\/p>\n

Delhi to Mahavatar Babaji Cave<\/p>\n

Babaji can speak in any language. But those people who have met him say that Babaji usually speaks in Hindi only.\u00a0\u201cDera-Danda uthao\u201d<\/em>\u00a0is Mahavatar Babaji\u2019s favorite pet phrase. It is believed that Lahiri Mahasaya was initiated into Kriya Yoga by him, and he had given him the order to become a householder yogi. Apart from this, he had also shown him a golden palace, which was made completely of gold.<\/p>\n

When Rajinikanth reached to meditate in the cave of Mahavatar Babaji, then once again the discussion of Babaji fumed. It is believed that Babaji\u2019s age is about 2800 years and even today he appears as ever youthful. The darshan of Mahavatar Babaji happens only to a few chosen people<\/strong>. And such people say that Babaji even today is in meditation in a cave of the Himalayas.<\/p>\n

If we talk about the powers of Mahavatar Babaji, then on one hand Babaji can become invisible, and on the other hand he has no need for any kind of food or waters.<\/p>\n

It is believed that without the wish of Babaji, no one can meet him. Among those who met Babaji, one was Lahiri Mahashaya said that he had met Babaji once in the cave. According to him, Babaji also has the power to bring the dead back to life.<\/p>\n

A Walk Through An Abode of Kriya Yoga<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Everything eventually lost its shape.<\/strong> I felt like everything had become sound \u2013 even my own body seemed to be just a blur of motion with nothing to define it as it was earlier on. There was only one thing: a song within me that grew from deep within as if it had been lying dormant for many years perhaps waiting for this moment to express itself through me until reaching all-encompassing, sublime heights of ecstasy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was here that Lahiri Mahasaya received not only his Kriya initiation but also the charge to bring the experience of this spiritual path to others.<\/p>\n

Though he had many duties and responsibilities at home as a married man. “Autobiography of a Yogi” relates to how Babaji told him, \u201cA deep purpose underlay the fact that you did not meet me this time until you were already a married man, with modest business responsibilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

My Experience at the Babaji Cave Himalayas<\/strong>\u00a0reveals that you must put aside your thoughts of joining our secret band in the Himalayas; your life lies in the crowded marts where you can serve as an example to the ideal yogi and yogini-householder.”<\/p>\n

This was my second trip up to the Himalayas to Babaji Cave Himalayas<\/strong>, though they have long been in my dreams and meditations. I feel a certain spiritual presence here that reminds me of stories from the Mahabharata in particular – a story centered around five heroic warriors known as the Pandavas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was these five warriors who were said to have lived long ago, with two living within this very region of Ranikhet near Babaji Cave Himalayas & Drongiri Mountain<\/strong>. It is little wonder then that Babaji\/Krishna would choose to reside<\/strong> here himself during his lifetime also! In past lives I feel as if I too was associated with both this lineage and this area – but who knows?<\/p>\n

Aside from the history and holy vibrations of this area, one also feels that the mountains themselves are alive and conscious. There is a palpable blessing that calms and relaxes the mind as one gazes at them. We stayed here for two days, day by day our troubles seeped into their surroundings, and deep peace and happiness consumed us, leaving our minds soaring like eagles.<\/p>\n

I know I\u2019m not the only one who has been captivated by these majestic mountains<\/strong>. And I know that this is not the last time these green fields will see my slow, deliberate walk toward them. It was as though a magnet had captured my heart.<\/p>\n

Swami Yukteswar Giri<\/h3>\n

Swami Yukteswar Giri was the disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya, and his disciple Paramhansa Yogananda mentioned Mahavatar Baba in his book\u00a0\u2018Autobiography of a Yogi\u2019<\/em>\u00a0(1946). It is said that between 1861 and 1935, Mahavatar Baba met many saints.<\/p>\n

It is said that Mahavatar Baba gave the teaching of Kriya Yoga to Adi Shankaracharya, and later he also initiated Saint Kabir. After this, the renowned saint Lahiri Mahasaya is described as his disciple.<\/p>\n

Meeting of Yoganandaji<\/h3>\n

When Yogananda met him, he appeared to be only 19 years old. Yogananda, with the help of an artist, even had a portrait of Mahavatar Baba made. That very portrait is the one that is circulated everywhere. On 25th July 1920, Babaji gave darshan to Paramhansa Yogananda; therefore, this date every year is celebrated as Babaji\u2019s Memorial Day.<\/p>\n

At present, Gurunath from Pune has also met Mahavatar Babaji. He has even written a book on Babaji named\u00a0\u2018The Lightning Standing Still\u2019<\/em>. Shri M. of South India too has met Mahavatar Babaji many times. In 1954, at his ashram in Badrinath, in a period of six months, Babaji gave his great devotee S.A.A. Ramaiah the complete initiation into 144 Kriyas.<\/p>\n

Kukuchina Village Dwarahat Uttarakhand<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Lahiri Mahasaya wrote in his diary that Mahavatar Babaji was Lord Krishna<\/strong>. Yogananda too often used to pray aloud saying \u201cBabaji Krishna.\u201d Two of Paramhansa Yogananda\u2019s disciples also wrote that he too had said that Mahavatar Babaji was, in a previous lifetime, Shri Krishna.<\/p>\n

It is said that the cave of Mahavatar Baba even today exists at Dunagiri in Almora district of Uttarakhand,\u00a0 just 3 kilometers from Kukuchina.<\/strong> The holy cave of Mahavatar Babaji\u00a0 is located at Pandukholi near Kukuchina has been a meditation site of many saints and great souls.<\/p>\n

Film actor Rajinikanth and Juhi Chawla too have been coming for the darshan of Baba\u2019s cave. It is believed that Mahavatar Babaji lives in these Shivalik hills, and he has also given darshan to many yogis here itself. He gives darshan only to those who wish to progress ahead in yogic sadhana.<\/p>\n
