Most people remain unaware of who Mahavatar Babaji truly is or whether he even exists. The world first learned about this mysterious Himalayan yogi in 1946, when Paramahansa Yogananda published his spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi<\/em>. In it, Yogananda introduced Babaji as an eternal master \u2014 a Christ-like saint who continues to guide humanity.<\/p>\n

Babaji took birth on November 30, 203 AD<\/strong>, in a coastal settlement that we now call Parangipettai, Tamil Nadu<\/strong>. His family named him Nagaraj<\/strong>, meaning serpent king<\/em>, a title that symbolizes the awakening of kundalini shakti<\/em>, the latent divine energy within every human being.<\/p>\n

At the age of 15<\/strong>, the great siddha Boganathar<\/strong> entrusted young Nagaraj to his own teacher, the sage Agastyar<\/strong>, who lived near Courtallam, Tamil Nadu<\/strong>. Agastyar initiated him into Kriya Kundalini Pranayama<\/strong>, a sacred and transformative yogic practice.<\/p>\n

Centuries later, around 1861<\/strong>, Babaji directly transmitted the secret science of Kriya Yoga<\/strong> to Lahiri Mahasaya<\/strong>, setting in motion a lineage that continues to this day.<\/p>\n

In modern times, Babaji\u2019s influence has even reached popular culture. Superstar Rajinikanth<\/strong>, adored as a near-demigod by millions, openly declares Babaji as his spiritual inspiration.<\/p>\n

At Rajinikanth\u2019s request, director Suresh Krishna<\/strong> created the film Baba<\/em> to introduce Babaji to the public. Although the movie failed at the box office, it succeeded in spreading awareness of the Himalayan master. Since then, Rajinikanth has reportedly made pilgrimages to the Himalayas almost every year to seek Babaji\u2019s blessings.<\/p>\n
