It was <strong data-start=\"303\" data-end=\"364\">established in the 8th century by Adi Guru Shankaracharya<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"369\" data-end=\"641\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">While traveling on the <strong data-start=\"392\" data-end=\"426\">main highway towards Ram Jhula<\/strong>, this temple is located <strong data-start=\"451\" data-end=\"477\">midway along the route<\/strong>. In this temple, along with <strong data-start=\"506\" data-end=\"525\">Lord Shatrughna<\/strong>, devotees also <strong data-start=\"541\" data-end=\"588\">worship the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chaturbhuja\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chaturbhuj form of Lord Narayan<\/a><\/strong> and perform <strong data-start=\"601\" data-end=\"640\">puja and rituals for the Ram Darbar.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"54\" data-end=\"595\">This temple has its <strong data-start=\"378\" data-end=\"400\">own unique history<\/strong>, attracting devotees from <strong data-start=\"427\" data-end=\"443\">far and wide<\/strong>. While all festivals are celebrated here with <strong data-start=\"490\" data-end=\"510\">great enthusiasm<\/strong>, the two <strong data-start=\"520\" data-end=\"538\">main festivals<\/strong> of this temple are <strong data-start=\"558\" data-end=\"573\">Janmashtami<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"578\" data-end=\"592\">Ram Navami<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11461\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11461\" style=\"width: 770px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11461 size-cheerup-main\" src=\"http:\/\/rishikeshdaytour.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Muni-Ki-Reti-770x515.jpg\" alt=\"Muni Ki Reti in Rishikesh\" width=\"770\" height=\"515\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11461\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Muni Ki Reti<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3 data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"50\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"48\">Historical Significance\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"52\" data-end=\"388\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">In earlier times, <strong data-start=\"70\" data-end=\"114\">pilgrims traveling towards the Char Dham<\/strong> would first <strong data-start=\"127\" data-end=\"148\">visit this temple<\/strong> before continuing their journey. <strong data-start=\"182\" data-end=\"244\">Shatrughna performed silent meditation (maun sadhana) here<\/strong>, and because of this, the place came to be known as <strong data-start=\"297\" data-end=\"338\">\u201cMaun Ki Reti\u201d (the sands of silence)<\/strong>, which over time evolved into <strong data-start=\"369\" data-end=\"387\">\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/rishikeshdaytour.com\/blog\/muni-ki-reti-in-rishikesh\/\">Muni Ki Reti\u201d<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"597\" data-end=\"914\"><strong data-start=\"597\" data-end=\"627\">Mahant Manoj Prapanchaarya<\/strong> of Shri Shatrughna Temple explains that in <strong data-start=\"671\" data-end=\"688\">ancient times<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"690\" data-end=\"709\">Lord Shatrughna<\/strong> performed <strong data-start=\"720\" data-end=\"756\" data-is-only-node=\"\">silent meditation (maun tapasya)<\/strong> at this place. Because of this, the site was originally known as <strong data-start=\"822\" data-end=\"861\">Maun Ki Reti (the sands of silence)<\/strong>, and today it is famously called <strong data-start=\"895\" data-end=\"911\">Muni Ki Reti<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"916\" data-end=\"1243\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">According to legend, <strong data-start=\"937\" data-end=\"977\">Lord Shatrughna had slain Lavanasura<\/strong>, a member of Ravana\u2019s family, which resulted in a <strong data-start=\"1028\" data-end=\"1061\">Brahma Dosha (a divine curse)<\/strong> to him. To <strong data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1102\">nullify this Brahma Dosha<\/strong>, he came to <strong data-start=\"1115\" data-end=\"1128\">Rishikesh<\/strong> and performed <strong data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1174\">silent penance at this site<\/strong>. Before the <strong data-start=\"185\" data-end=\"200\">Ganga Aarti<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"206\" data-end=\"228\">Shiv Tandav Stotra<\/strong> is recited.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"45\" data-end=\"383\">The <strong data-start=\"245\" data-end=\"283\">scenic beauty surrounding the ghat<\/strong> adds to the <strong data-start=\"296\" data-end=\"321\">splendor of the aarti<\/strong>. This ghat is located <strong data-start=\"344\" data-end=\"380\">between Ram Jhula and Janki Setu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"385\" data-end=\"722\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Traditionally, <strong data-start=\"400\" data-end=\"440\">five priests perform the Ganga Aarti<\/strong> here, but when was\u00a0 the <strong data-start=\"461\" data-end=\"482\">COVID-19 pandemic<\/strong>, only <strong data-start=\"489\" data-end=\"506\">three priests<\/strong> were conducting it for the time being.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"385\" data-end=\"722\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The <strong data-start=\"549\" data-end=\"579\">Shri Ganga Gau Seva Samiti<\/strong> manages the aarti. During the aarti, the <strong data-start=\"621\" data-end=\"658\">illuminated Ram Jhula on the left<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"663\" data-end=\"690\">Janki Setu on the right<\/strong> captivate and attract devotees.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"49\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"47\">Festivals of Shatrughna Temple Rishikesh<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"51\" data-end=\"259\"><strong data-start=\"51\" data-end=\"81\">Mahant Manoj Prapanchaarya<\/strong> further explains that while <strong data-start=\"110\" data-end=\"148\">all festivals at Shatrughna Temple<\/strong> are celebrated with <strong data-start=\"169\" data-end=\"189\" data-is-only-node=\"\">great enthusiasm<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"195\" data-end=\"217\">two main festivals<\/strong> are <strong data-start=\"222\" data-end=\"237\">Janmashtami<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"242\" data-end=\"256\">Ram Navami<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"261\" data-end=\"463\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">During these festivals, the <strong data-start=\"289\" data-end=\"324\">temple is beautifully decorated<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"330\" data-end=\"353\">bhajans and kirtans<\/strong> are organized for devotees. <strong data-start=\"382\" data-end=\"412\">Devotees from far and wide<\/strong> come to this temple for <strong data-start=\"437\" data-end=\"462\">darshan and blessings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"41\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"39\">Also Known as Shri Adi Badrinarayan<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"43\" data-end=\"274\">It is noteworthy that this temple is known not only as <strong data-start=\"98\" data-end=\"119\">Shatrughna Temple<\/strong> but also as <strong data-start=\"132\" data-end=\"157\">Shri Adi Badrinarayan<\/strong>. In this temple, you can find <strong data-start=\"188\" data-end=\"243\">idols of Shatrughna, Lord Rama, Mata Sita, Lakshman<\/strong>, as well as <strong data-start=\"256\" data-end=\"271\">Lord Vishnu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"276\" data-end=\"597\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The temple <strong data-start=\"287\" data-end=\"304\">opens at 7 AM<\/strong> for devotees from <strong data-start=\"323\" data-end=\"343\">India and abroad<\/strong>, and its <strong data-start=\"353\" data-end=\"410\">doors are closed in the evening after the Ganga Aarti<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"276\" data-end=\"597\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><strong data-start=\"412\" data-end=\"446\">Two Aartis are performed daily<\/strong> in this temple.
