According to the story, from the <strong data-start=\"226\" data-end=\"245\">Samudra Manthan<\/strong>, the Amrita that emerged were being distributed among the <strong data-start=\"304\" data-end=\"313\">devas<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"322\" data-end=\"332\">asuras<\/strong>, but then a <strong data-start=\"345\" data-end=\"355\">poison<\/strong> named <strong data-start=\"362\" data-end=\"374\">Halahala<\/strong> came out. Neither the <strong data-start=\"397\" data-end=\"406\">devas<\/strong> wanted it nor the <strong data-start=\"425\" data-end=\"435\">asuras<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This <strong data-start=\"442\" data-end=\"452\">poison<\/strong> was so dangerous that it could destroy the entire <strong data-start=\"503\" data-end=\"515\">creation<\/strong>. With the fire of this <strong data-start=\"539\" data-end=\"549\">poison<\/strong>, all the <strong data-start=\"559\" data-end=\"577\">ten directions<\/strong> started burning, due to which there was chaos in the <strong data-start=\"631\" data-end=\"640\">world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Then <strong data-start=\"647\" data-end=\"661\">Lord Shiva<\/strong>, to save the whole <strong data-start=\"681\" data-end=\"693\">universe<\/strong>, drank the <strong data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"715\">poison<\/strong>. When <strong data-start=\"722\" data-end=\"736\">Lord Shiva<\/strong> was drinking the <strong data-start=\"754\" data-end=\"764\">poison<\/strong>, then <strong data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"787\">Mata Parvati<\/strong> was right behind him, and she held his <strong data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"837\">throat<\/strong>, due to which the <strong data-start=\"856\" data-end=\"866\">poison<\/strong> neither came out from the <strong data-start=\"893\" data-end=\"903\">throat<\/strong> nor went inside the <strong data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"932\">body<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"96\" data-end=\"148\">Mahadev went into deep meditation under the tree<\/strong><br data-start=\"148\" data-end=\"151\" \/>The <strong data-start=\"155\" data-end=\"165\" data-is-only-node=\"\">poison<\/strong> got stuck in the <strong data-start=\"183\" data-end=\"193\">throat<\/strong> of <strong data-start=\"197\" data-end=\"211\">Lord Shiva<\/strong>, due to which his <strong data-start=\"230\" data-end=\"240\">throat<\/strong> turned <strong data-start=\"248\" data-end=\"256\">blue<\/strong>, and then <strong data-start=\"267\" data-end=\"278\">Mahadev<\/strong> came to be called <strong data-start=\"297\" data-end=\"310\">Neelkanth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But due to the <strong data-start=\"327\" data-end=\"344\">heat (warmth)<\/strong> of the <strong data-start=\"352\" data-end=\"362\">poison<\/strong>, the restless <strong data-start=\"377\" data-end=\"391\">Lord Shiva<\/strong> moved towards the <strong data-start=\"410\" data-end=\"423\">Himalayas<\/strong> in search of <strong data-start=\"437\" data-end=\"449\">coolness<\/strong>, and he found the <strong data-start=\"473\" data-end=\"485\">coolness<\/strong> of the <strong data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"504\">Pankaja<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"509\" data-end=\"529\">Madhumati rivers<\/strong> on the <strong data-start=\"537\" data-end=\"558\">Manikoot Mountain<\/strong>, sat under a <strong data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"580\">tree<\/strong> at the <strong data-start=\"588\" data-end=\"616\">confluence of the rivers<\/strong>. T<\/p>\n<p>Here he became completely absorbed by <strong data-start=\"657\" data-end=\"668\">samadhi<\/strong>, and remained in <strong data-start=\"686\" data-end=\"697\">samadhi<\/strong> for years, due to which <strong data-start=\"722\" data-end=\"738\">Mata Parvati<\/strong> became worried.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"152\" data-end=\"168\">Mata Parvati<\/strong> also sat on the <strong data-start=\"185\" data-end=\"197\">mountain<\/strong>, waiting for <strong data-start=\"211\" data-end=\"235\">Lord Shiva\u2019s samadhi<\/strong> to end. But even after many years, <strong data-start=\"271\" data-end=\"285\">Lord Shiva<\/strong> remained\u00a0 in <strong data-start=\"307\" data-end=\"318\">samadhi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After the prayers of the <strong data-start=\"345\" data-end=\"354\">devas<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"356\" data-end=\"369\">Bholenath<\/strong> opened his <strong data-start=\"381\" data-end=\"389\">eyes<\/strong> and, before going to <strong data-start=\"411\" data-end=\"422\">Kailash<\/strong>, gave this place the name of <strong data-start=\"452\" data-end=\"473\">Neelkanth Mahadev<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Because of this, even today this place is known by the name of <strong data-start=\"538\" data-end=\"559\">Neelkanth Mahadev<\/strong>. However, a dangerous poison called <strong>Halahal<\/strong> also emerged.<\/li>\n<li>Neither the gods nor the demons wanted this poison, as it was so deadly that it could destroy the entire universe. The poison was so powerful that it set the ten directions on fire, causing chaos in the world.<\/li>\n<li>To save the world, <strong>Lord Shiva<\/strong> decided to consume the poison. As he was drinking the poison, <strong>Goddess Parvati<\/strong>, who was following him, held his throat, preventing the poison from spilling out or entering his body. This act saved the universe from destruction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Lord Shiva Meditated Under a Tree<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The poison got stuck in <strong>Lord Shiva\u2019s throat<\/strong>, which caused his throat to turn blue, and he became known as <strong>Neelkanth<\/strong>. However, the heat of the poison made Lord Shiva restless, so he sought coolness and headed towards the <strong>Himalayas<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Upon reaching the <strong>Manikoot Mountain<\/strong>, where he saw the coolness of the <strong>Madhumati<\/strong> and <strong>Pankaja rivers<\/strong>, he sat under a tree at their confluence.
