New Delhi<\/strong> is a big, exciting city with lots of bright lights<\/strong> and fancy places<\/strong>! There are fast trains<\/strong>, big shopping malls<\/strong>, and fun movie theaters<\/strong> where people can watch films on huge screens. There are also restaurants<\/strong> with delicious food and stores<\/strong> full of cool clothes and toys. But, there’s also a sad side to New Delhi Slums.<\/p>\n

Some people don\u2019t have nice houses or enough food and work hard every day just to live. Today, we\u2019re going to talk about New Delhi Slums like these in and around New Delhi.<\/p>\n

    Madanpur Khadar<\/strong> is a resettlement colony<\/strong> just a kilometer away from the Sarita Vihar Metro Station<\/strong> on the outskirts of Delhi<\/strong>. In the year 2000<\/strong>, the government chose this area to move large groups of slum-dwellers<\/strong> from various parts of the city, giving them a place to live.<\/p>\n

    Today, most people living in Madanpur Khadar<\/a><\/strong> work as rag-pickers<\/strong>. As you enter, you’ll see mud and brick houses<\/strong> lined up along narrow streets<\/strong>, with markets selling second-hand goods<\/strong> and trash materials. A sewer line<\/strong> runs through the area, and the residents face challenges like unsafe drinking water<\/strong> and sanitation issues<\/strong>. However, some support is provided, as several NGOs<\/strong> focused on Women\u2019s Welfare<\/strong> and HIV support<\/strong> have set up centers to help the community.<\/p>\n

    The colony is known for its narrow mud roads<\/strong>, colorful houses<\/strong>, and streets filled with performers<\/strong>. It has a vibrant atmosphere, with artists showcasing their talents. The Indian Government<\/strong> has often turned to the community’s puppeteers<\/strong> and magicians<\/strong> to represent India’s cultural excellence<\/strong> on the global stage.<\/p>\n

Located near Vasant Vihar<\/strong>, one of the most upscale areas<\/strong> in Delhi, it offers a sharp contrast<\/strong> to the posh bungalows<\/strong> surrounding it.<\/p>\n

    The majority of residents in Kusumpur Pahari work as servants<\/strong>, drivers<\/strong>, gardeners<\/strong>, and sweepers<\/strong>, serving the wealthy families of Vasant Vihar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The people living here are mostly from the labour class<\/strong>, struggling with limited resources.<\/p>\n

    Women in Seemapuri often have to collect toxic drinking water<\/strong>, and families live in mud houses<\/strong>, with 7-8 members<\/strong> sharing a small room. Basic amenities<\/strong> like proper sanitation are scarce, making daily life even harder for the residents.<\/p>\n
