Rajaji National Park<\/strong> in Uttarakhand covers a big area of 820.42 square kilometres<\/strong>. It is named after Shri C. Rajagopalachari<\/strong>, also called Rajaji<\/strong>, who was a famous freedom fighter<\/strong> and the last Governor-General<\/strong> of independent India.<\/p>\n

Before becoming a national park, it was just a wildlife sanctuary<\/strong>. In 1983<\/strong>, three sanctuaries\u2014Rajaji<\/strong>, Chilla<\/strong>, and Motichur<\/strong>\u2014were joined together to form the Rajaji National Park<\/strong><\/a>. Since then, it has been a popular spot for people who love nature<\/strong> and wildlife<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The park is located near the Shivalik Ridge<\/strong>, with the Motichur<\/strong> and Rajaji sanctuaries<\/strong> lying on its north<\/strong> and south<\/strong>. Many streams flow down from the ridge, becoming wide rivers<\/strong> in the plains. These rivers are usually dry but turn into fast-flowing torrents during the monsoon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The best time<\/strong> to visit Rajaji National Park<\/strong> is from November to June<\/strong>. During this time, the weather is nice<\/strong>, and you might see some wild animals<\/strong> roaming around! If you\u2019re lucky, you might even spot a tiger<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

The park is closed<\/strong> in July, August, and September<\/strong> because of the monsoon<\/strong>. Heavy rain can cause floods<\/strong> and landslides<\/strong> in Uttarakhand, so it\u2019s not safe to visit then.<\/p>\n

If you like summer<\/strong>, you can go between April and June<\/strong>, and if you prefer the winter<\/strong>, November to March<\/strong> is the perfect time for your trip!<\/p>\n
