Here’s some amazing news for all the Shiva devotees out there! Did you know that you can now see the majestic Mount Kailash from India itself? Yes, you read that right about Kailash Parvat Darshan!

Overview: Kailash Parvat Darshan

The Uttarakhand Tourism department has just started a new pilgrimage called “Mount Kailash Darshan from Indian Soil.” This means pilgrims can now witness the holy Mount Kailash from Old Lipulekh Peak in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. Isn’t that awesome?

The First Batch of Pilgrims

The first group of pilgrims started their journey on Gandhi Jayanti, which is October 2, and by October 3, they were able to see the breathtaking view of Mount Kailash from Old Lipulekh Peak, along with the famous Om Parvat. On October 4, they will visit Adi Kailash before returning to Pithoragarh.

The best part? The Uttarakhand Tourism department has made the trip super easy for everyone! The package includes helicopter tickets from Pithoragarh to Gunji, and back, along with accommodations at KMVN or homestays. This makes the whole journey comfortable and memorable!

Om Parvat

Devotees Are Overjoyed!

Pilgrims like Neeraj Manohar Lal Chowksey and Mohini Neeraj Chowksey from Bhopal felt so grateful and blessed after seeing their holy deity’s home. They couldn’t believe they got this chance without having to go to Tibet! Another pilgrim, Amandeep Kumar Jindal from Chandigarh, was overjoyed as he saw Mount Kailash clearly due to the perfect weather.

A New Discovery!

Did you know? The point from where Mount Kailash is visible was discovered just a few months ago! A team from Uttarakhand Tourism, along with the BRO and ITBP, found this special spot, and now, all the preparations are complete to give devotees the chance to visit Mount Kailash, Adi Kailash, and Om Parvat – all from Indian soil.

Why Is This Special?

According to the scriptures, Lord Shiva has five abodes. Three of them—Kinnaur Kailash, Mani Mahesh, and Shrikhand Mahadev—are in Himachal Pradesh, while Adi Kailash is in Uttarakhand. But Mount Kailash, the most revered, is located in Tibet. Thanks to this new route, pilgrims no longer need to wait for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in Tibet—they can now pay their respects from India!

The Chief Minister’s Message

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated everyone involved in this project. He said the opening of this Mount Kailash Darshan from India shows the government’s commitment to making pilgrimages easier for everyone. Now, all Shiva devotees can have darshan without waiting for the long Kailash Mansarovar Yatra process.

So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and head to Uttarakhand to witness the divine Mount Kailash Parvat Darshan from the comfort of Indian soil!

Mount Kailash: The Eternal Peak of Lord Shiva

Long before the majestic Himalayas began to rise from the ancient Tethys Ocean, Mount Kailash stood tall, dominating the skyline. Part of the Kailash Range, this sacred mountain is around 30 million years old.

Its highest peak, standing at 6,675 meters, is a stunning formation of shining granite. Covered by a perpetual white glacial cap, Mount Kailash was already a grand, snow-covered spectacle even as the Himalayas were just beginning to take shape.

For centuries, Indians and Tibetans have recognized the divine significance of this peak. To Hindus, Mount Kailash is the earthly representation of Mount Meru, the mythical mountain of Heaven and the divine home of Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati.

For Tibetans, it is Sumeru, the cosmic center of the universe. Because of these sacred connections, Mount Kailash has drawn pilgrims from across the world for countless generations.

The Sacred Pilgrimage to Mount Kailash

Access to Mount Kailash today is limited, with most Himalayan passes in Kumaon and Garhwal leading to this holy mountain. However, Indian pilgrims are allowed to travel to Mount Kailash only through the Lipulekh Pass in Kumaon.

Pilgrimages to Mount Kailash and the nearby Lake Mansarovar, located about 30 km south of the mountain, are organized exclusively by the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN), in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India and the Chinese Government. This is because Mount Kailash is situated in Tibet, under Chinese administration.

For pilgrims, the journey to Mount Kailash is not just a physical trek but a deeply spiritual experience, connecting them to the cosmic center of their beliefs and the powerful realm of Lord Shiva.

My Amazing Trip to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat

Day 1:

We arrived in Pithoragarh by the evening!
