Notably, the longest tunnel stretches for 15.1 km between Devprayag and Lachmoli. Once completed, this will become India&#8217;s longest railway tunnel.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p><strong>Travel Time Reduction:<\/strong> The project&#8217;s estimated cost is Rs 162.2 billion (approximately USD 2.27 billion). Upon completion in 2025, it is expected to slash the travel time between Rishikesh and Karnaprayag from seven hours to just two hours.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p><strong>Contractors:<\/strong> The engineering arms of FS Italian Group, including ACOM, ITAL FERR, YUKSEL, TUMUS, and EPTISA, have been tasked with the project&#8217;s executive design and works supervision.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p><strong>Stations and Routes:<\/strong> The railway line features 12 stations, encompassing points like Shivpuri, Gullar, Byasi, Devprayag, Lachmoli, Maletha, Srinagar, Dahri, Sumerpur, Ghoktir, Gochar, and Shivai Karnaprayag.<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p><strong>Challenges:<\/strong> The project faces significant challenges due to the Himalayan mountains&#8217; geological complexity and its vulnerability to earthquakes.
