Visitors can meet the Sadhu<\/strong> and gain rare insights<\/strong> into ascetic life<\/strong>, meditation<\/strong>, and Hindu spiritual traditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

The Mouni Baba Cave<\/strong> Rishikesh is quite famous among spiritual travelers. There are many stories associated with it. People believe that the cave is filled with mystery and secrecy<\/strong>.\u00a0 The visitors even come here from abroad too, but once the sun sets, no one dares to go near the cave.<\/p>\r\n

Mauni Baba cave<\/strong> is the place where a very famous spiritual guru named Sri M and his guru, Maheshwarnath Ji<\/a><\/strong>, visited frequently for overnight stay while passing Rishikesh town. Sri Maheshwarnath Babaji<\/strong> is believed to be a very close disciple of Mahavatar Babaji.<\/strong>\u00a0 He used to live in deeper part of the Himalayas of Uttarakhand.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Mauni Baba Cave is built by nature near Rishikesh. It is in the midst of mountains, surrounded by tall lush green\u00a0 trees , the cave trail is widely famous track for bird-watching and nature walks.\u00a0 During the winter, over 300 species of Himalayan birds migrate to Rajaji National Park near\u00a0 cave area.<\/p>\r\n

The cave is lived by a highly enlightened monk, belong to Udasin tradition<\/strong> <\/a>, commonly referred to as Mauni Baba or Mouni Baba, now he is no more in body,\u00a0 has passed away many years ago.\u00a0 The \u00a0Mouni translates to “silence” and Baba refers to “Sadhu.<\/strong>” These ascetics tradition practice\u00a0 silence throughout their lives as a means to spiritual\u00a0 enlightenment.<\/p>\r\n

A Living Cave in Rishikesh<\/h3>\r\n

There is a Sadhus resides in the\u00a0 cave. He is well known as Jatadhari Baba,<\/strong>\u00a0 a kind of a Himalayan ascetic who practices severe austerity and remains detached from the mainstream.<\/p>\r\n

Jatadhari Baba follows Shaivism<\/strong>, a subsect of Shiva traditions, and normally keeps long hair that extends up to his feet. You meet also a disciple of Babaji who takes care of the cave.<\/p>\r\n
