How to Reach Mahavatar Babaji Cave from Delhi: Travel Tips?

How To reach the Mahavatar Babaji Cave in Kukuchina village, Uttarakhand. There are two possible routes;

1-  One starts from Delhi and passes through Nainital, Kainchi Dham, Neem Karoli Baba Ashram, Ranikhet, Dwarahat, and finally, Kukuchina and the cave.

2- Second route begins from Rishikesh and goes through Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnprayag, Adi Badri, Gainsain, Dwarahat, Kukuchina, and then the cave.

From Delhi To Mahavatar Babaji by Road

Embark on a transformative journey from Delhi to the sacred Mahavatar Babaji Cave with a meticulously planned itinerary spanning 2 Nights and 3 Days.

Day 1: Departure from New Delhi Your expedition begins with a morning pickup from either New Delhi Airport or your hotel.  Brace yourself for a scenic drive of approximately 10-11 hours as you traverse the roads towards the mystical Mahavatar Babaji Cave. Upon arrival, settle in for an overnight stay, readying your spirit for the profound experiences that lie ahead.

Day 2: Encounter with Mahavatar Babaji Awaken amidst the serene ambiance surrounding the Mahavatar Babaji Cave. Today is devoted to immersing  and exploring the tranquil surroundings.

 Additionally, venture into the quaint town of Dwarahat, absorbing its cultural essence and spiritual significance. As dusk descends, retire for another restful night in Dwarahat.

Day 3: As the sun ascends on the final day of your pilgrimage, bid farewell to Dwarahat and embark on the journey back to New Delhi by private car. Arriving in the bustling capital city, leaving you enriched with profound memories and newfound insights.

Dwarahat to Babaji Cave Distance

The journey from Dwarahat to the Mahavatar Babaji Cave spans a scenic 25-kilometer road trip, taking approximately 1 hour. Upon reaching your destination, a brief and pleasant 3-kilometer trek through a pine tree jungle awaits, offering a serene path to the sacred cave

From Kathgodam Railway station

If you’re starting from Kathgodam Railway Station, you have a few options. The most affordable way is to take a shared public taxi to Ranikhet (about 5 hours), and then another shared taxi to Dwarahat (around 2 hours). From Dwarahat, you can hire a local taxi to Kukuchina and then trek to the cave. The cost for the shared taxis from Kathgodam to Dwarahat should be around 450-600 rupees.

Alternatively, you can book a private taxi from Kathgodam Railway Station for a more comfortable journey. Once you reach Dwarahat Town Square, you can take another shared taxi to Kukuchina (about 50 minutes) for around 150 rupees. From Kukuchina, it’s a 5 km journey to the cave, with 2 km on an off-road road and a 3 km moderate trek.

Yogoda Satsanga Sakha Ashram

The Yogoda Satsanga Sakha Ashram is a spiritual retreat center and ashram located in Dwarahat. It was founded by Paramahansa Yogananda, the author of “Autobiography of a Yogi,” and is affiliated with the Self Realization Fellowship and Yogoda Satanga Society.

Shree Home Stay 

During your visit, you can consider staying at Shree Homestay in Dwarahat. It provides comfortable accommodation, including beautiful cottages, with basic amenities such as hot water and clean bedding. The guesthouse is surrounded by lush greenery and offers stunning mountain views. They also have home cooked serving of delicious vegetarian food.

 Kukuchina Village 

Kukuchina village is known for its connection to the Mahavatar Babaji Cave and offers a serene and authentic experience. The villagers mainly engage in agriculture and animal husbandry.

Pandvkholi or Pandavkholi

For a more adventurous experience, you can opt for Pandavkholi Dharamshala. Located on top of a hill, it requires a 3 km hike through a dense forest to reach. The accommodations are simple, but the hospitality of the people is warm. The panoramic views from the top make the trek worthwhile, but please note that this option may not be suitable for everyone, especially those with mobility or health concerns.
