As per the Uttarakhand Government, there are 136 rafting operators and 157 camping sites were registered as per official data of the government with the different government local agencies. The permission for operating rafting activity in the Ganges from Kaudiyala, Marine Drive, Shivpuri, Bramhpuri is legally given by the tourism department of Uttarakhand Government, while forest department and revenue departments both give permission for the camping sites on the lease, which is usually for a year long.

The Beach Camping Permission NGT
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has been identified sum of 25 sites along the bank of the Ganges for the camping in 2015. As per the tribunal’s order camping on the beaches of the Ganga will be permissible outside 100 meters radius from the middle of the river Ganges. But unfortunately, not like that now, due to so much political involvement and local political influence, some camps are just on the bank of the river Ganges in Rishikesh.
